Published on August 12, 2017

Saving to build your dream home? You could be in your own new home sooner than you think.

The Queensland Government has just increased the First Home Owner’s Grant to $20,000. That’s $20,000 towards the cost of building your dream home.

From the 1st July 2016, the Queensland Government are giving a 12month boost to the existing $15,000 First Home Buyers Grant meaning that first home buyers will get $20,000 towards the purchase of their new build house up to a value of $750,000.

Furthermore, transfer duty (formerly stamp duty) exemption is still in place for first home buyers for properties under $500,000, with concessions available for properties valued between $500,000 and $550,000.

First home vacant land concessions are still available for first home buyers on land valued under $400,000. For purchases under $250,000 there is no transfer duty payable. Whereas transfer duty concessions are available on land valued between $250,000 and $400,000.
