There has been much publicity recently around the product safety recall of Infinity electrical cable.

The product was sold at Masters Home Improvement from April 2012 to August 2013.  Other traders who sold this product include Mitre 10, Home Timber & Hardware, HEM Queensland and Pioneer Electrical Supplies.  It has been determined that this product does not comply with safety criteria and will deteriorate over time, creating a high risk of electrical shock from direct contact and the potential for fire.

After the Master Builders raised this issue with the ACCC and the Queensland Office of Fair Trading, a prohibition of sale was issued in October 2013.  A voluntary recall was issued by the ACCC in January 2014.  It was at this time that Perry Homes immediately acted on this alert, by thoroughly investigating all of our electrical sub-contractors in both New South Wales and Queensland.  Each sub-contractor was required to advise us in writing as to whether they had ever used this product in any of the homes they built for us.  By February 2014, we had subsequently received notification from all of our subcontractors, that there was not one contractor  who had ever used Infinity electrical cable.

Whilst the current alert issued in August 2014 has specified greater recall requirements than the original voluntary recall, Perry Homes had already instigated these more stringent actions back in January 2014.

Perry Homes takes this type of product recall very seriously.  The safety of our clients and their families is important to us and we will always be conservative in our actions.   Please be assured that we have done everything possible, to ensure all Perry Homes, are absolutely free of any product under this product recall.

Sincerely

David Perry
